Park Overview & History

Gumbalimba Park is a nature sanctuary located in West Bay, Roatan, Honduras. The park offers an immersive experience combining wildlife encounters, botanical gardens, historical education, and beach relaxation.

The Gumbalimba Experience

The Gumbalimba Park experience begins as a walking tour through the park with your own personal tour guide. For an optimal experience, a guide leads you through Gumbalimba and offers an educational journey through nature and history.

The guide is included with admission, and it is park policy that each person or group must have a guide to see the monkeys and macaws. Once you finish your guided tour, you can enjoy the rest of your day on your own at the beach and pool.

Notable Features

One of the oldest trees in the park, the magnificent Ceiba Petandra is a highlight of your tour. This sacred tree holds cultural significance throughout Central America.
Enjoy the diverse plant life throughout the park, including:
- Cannonball tree
- Gumbolimbo tree (the park's namesake)
- Mazapan
- Tamarindo
- Almond tree
During the tour, there is an optional crossing of a walking bridge over a pond. If you feel uncomfortable crossing, there is an alternative ground-level passage available.
